Paatoop.com - Ferydoon Zandi shares a few words and explains his retirement.
Regarding his retirement, the Iranian legend said, “I thought a lot about this matter, and this wasn’t an easy decision for me.”
He continued, “However, every player must hang up his boots one day, and I have decided to do so now.”
Zandi also spoke about his horrendous injury (that happened two years ago), and said, “That was a really rough injury. After my first surgery, the doctors told me that my leg had healed improperly and crooked, and that I would need another surgery. That’s when the doctors told me I should say goodbye to football, but I refused.”
The Iranian-German midfielder added, “I don’t regret coming to Iran, and if I could do it all over again, I would. I only had one last wish, which was to return to Esteghlal. I had talked to Mazloumi and Mehdi Rahmati, and they were in favour of my return, but I’m not sure who stopped this from happening.”
Zandi revealed his plans for the future, and explained, “I want to pursue a coaching career, and I have a dream to open an amazing academy in Iran… a proper academy with full facilities.”
