PLDC - Iran’s national football team will face Russia in an international friendly on September 29 in Kazan, the Russian Football Federation has announced.
The match will take place at Kazan Arena as part of both teams’ preparations for upcoming international competitions.
Iran and Russia have previously met four times. Their most recent encounter took place on October 10, 2025, in Volgograd, where Russia claimed a 2-1 victory.
The two sides also played to 1-1 draws in 2023 and 2017, while Iran recorded a 1-0 victory over Russia in their 2011 meeting.
Iran recently completed its World Cup campaign unbeaten, recording three draws but narrowly missing out on qualification for the next round.
Russia, coached by Valery Karpin, currently sits 35th in the FIFA World Ranking and 16th among European teams.
