Nelo Vingada

TEHRANTIMES - Iran U-23 coach Nelo Vindaga believes his team has little time to be prepared for the 2014 Asian Games but he will try his best to get a good result in the competition.

“Unfortunately we started our preparation really late. We are just two weeks away from our first match in the 2014 Asian Games and this is the first time I have the complete squad at the training camp. I’m not going to make excuses but it’s a difficult situation. However we will try our best to get good results in the tournament and make the Iranian fans happy,” Vingada told reporters.

The 61-year old Portuguese hopes to see his compatriot and former Iran national team head coach Carlos Queiroz in Incheon at the 2014 Asian Games.

“I expect Queiroz to reach an agreement with the Iranian football federation, signing an extension to his contract as the head coach of Iran’s senior team. I hope to see him in Incheon because he is monitoring some of our players and his presence in South Korea will boost our player’s confidence,” Vingada added.

Iran's football team has been drawn in group H of the 2014 Asian Games with Vietnam and Kyrgyzstan. Vingada’s men will face Vietnam in their opening match on September 15th before meeting Kyrgyzstan three days later.
