AFC - Al Fateh coach Fathi Al Jabal has called on his Saudi Arabian champions to use everything at the disposal in order to secure three points ahead of their Group B encounter against Iran’s Foolad Khouzestan in the AFC Champions League on Tuesday.
After all four teams shared goalless draws on Matchday One last month, Group B is tightly poised after Al Fateh’s draw at home with Uzbekistan’s Bunyodkor was matched by the stalemate between El Jaish and Foolad in Doha.
With only three weeks remaining in the Saudi Pro League, Al Fateh are out of contention for the title, and after losing 1-0 to Al Ittifaq in the Champions Cup at the weekend, their Tunisian coach has his sights set on a successful continental campaign.
"This is the second match in the competition and is very important for us. Both teams want to win, but we hope we can get all three points from Foolad in Khouzestan,” said coach Al Jabal.
“They played very well in the first match and we know them very well. We have watched their matches and analyzed them. We are here only for three points, as I said we have checked them technically and tactically and our only aim is to win.
“All the players are ready and we will use all our weapons to reach our goal. We have three weeks left until the end of our local league, fortunately we have no suspensions or injuries, and we’re completely ready to take on the Iranians on Tuesday."
Foolad coach Hossein Faraki, by contrast, is currently overseeing a successful domestic campaign with his side sitting on top of the Iran Pro League, a point ahead of champions Esteghlal.
However his team will be without Iran international forward Arash Afshin when they host the Saudi champions at Ghadir Stadium.
"I know the coach of the Saudi team has promised to take all three points from this match, I do respect his viewpoint, but everything will be clear only on the pitch and after the final whistle,” said Faraki.
“Our experience is not as much as against the Uzbek contenders, Bunyodkor, but we will definitely do our best.
“I believe all four teams have the chance to qualify from this group and it's too early to predict who will go through.”
