Sardar Azmoun - Anzhi

Persianfootball.com - KAZAN, Iranian teenage sensation Sardar Azmoun had an outstanding league debut for Rubin Kazan, scoring a goal and creating another in the 5-1 win over Anzhi Makhachkala in Russia.


The 18-year-old came on after 72 minutes when Rubin had already taken a 3-0 lead, but Anzhi grabbed a lifeline by scoring the 3-1.

But Azmoun sealed the victory when he got rid of his marker, nine-time Nigerian international defender Dele Adeleye, and to the end of a throughball which he perfectly chipped past the goalkeeper after 91 minutes to make it 4-1.

Azmoun, who just returned from injury, then was pulled down inside the area by Brazilian defender Ewerton when chasing a loose ball, resulting in a yellow card for the defender and a penalty kick, which was successfully converted by Roman Eremenko.

The former Sepahan youth player had already impressed in Rubin’s youth team, scoring four goals in five appearances this season.

Azmoun also convinced on international stage with Iran’s youth teams, scoring 24 goals in 20 games for Iran’s u-17 and u-20, as well as in UEFA Europa league, where he had two substitute appearances for Rubin already in qualifying, scoring one goal against Norwegian outfits Molde.

The striker received his first ever senior national team call-up by Team Melli boss Carlos Queiroz on Friday and is expected to join the team in the coming days.

In Belgium, Reza Ghoochannejhad remained on the bench in Standard Liege’s disappointing 0-1 loss to Zulte Waregem.
