Herald - EAMON ZAYED is weighing up two offers to play European football next season as he plans to finish up his involvement in Iranian football.

The Dublin-born striker is currently enjoying his summer break after a long season which saw him make his competitive international debut for Libya last week, featuring for the national side in their World Cup qualifier against DR Congo.

Zayed, 29, spent last season playing for Iranian outfit Aluminium Hormozgan but his contract there is up and he is keen to move on.

A number of League of Ireland clubs are tracking the former Bray Wanderers, Drogheda United and Derry City player, and Sligo Rovers are keen to bring the forward back to the League of Ireland.

Sligo have a number of strikers already on board and have been boosted in the last two weeks by the return to the side of Danny North, following a year-long absence due to a knee injury. But Rovers are keen to add some firepower to the squad, especially ahead of their Champions League campaign, as the side went four games without a goal before last week's 5-2 win over Derry City.

Zayed has also attracted interest from Malta as Valetta, who will play in the Europa League, are keen on him.

Zayed also has offers from clubs in the USA and Libya, with the striker aware the Libyan FA will keep track of his movements ahead of their next World Cup qualifier in September.
