TehranChronicle - Ali Karimi is one of the most popular football players in Iran and the history of Persepolis FC. On Wednesday, Karimi declared that he wants to end his career in his beloved club at Tehran. Accordingly he is interested in pursuing his football career as coach of the team.
Latest rumors suggest that Ali Karimi will coach Reds in coming league’s matches. However, Yahya Golmohammadi, the current head coach of Persepolis, rejected these reports by saying: “We believe Ali Karimi is one of the best football players in Iran and we are extremely happy to have him in our squad. The club and technical team are ready to use his experiences in this field, but he will not arrange the team for next matches.”
Golmohammadi went on to admire Karimi’s remarkable experiences in European football clubs. “He had played for various clubs across Europe, so he has a lot to give the club. According to recent sessions with Mohammad Royanian, the president of Persepolis FC, the club is intending to send Karimi to international coaching classes. In the future, we will add him to our technical cadre if he accepts our offer.”
Karimi began his career with Fath Tehran youth club and joined Persepolis in 1998. Internationally, Karimi has been capped 127 times since making his debut in October 1998, and has scored 38 goals.
