Sport360 - Ajman are hoping the signing of prolific Senegalese striker Ibrahim Toure will help inspire them on their return to the Pro-League.

The Northern Emirates club earned promotion from Division One along with Emirates Club and Toure is their third overseas signing for the season after the club earlier negotiated deals for Emirates midfielder Karim Kerkar and Olivier Tia Tokbe, a 28-year-old who joins from Qatar’s Al Ahli.

Toure arrives from Sepahan, who did not offer him an extension to his two-year contract which expired this month, despite him scoring 36 goals in 51 outings for the Iranian giants, who went on to win the 2010/11 Iranian Pro-League.

And Ajman are looking forward to a similar performance from the 25-year-old, who is a probable with Senegal.

Board Member and Head of Public Relations and Media at Ajman Club Nasr Ibrahim, said: “He is a very, very good striker and we are expecting a lot from him in the forthcoming season.

“Toure has a lot of experience, having won the Iranian league for Sepahan and represented the club in the AFC Champions League. We were looking for a player with his credentials and needed a striker with a good record and he is the right man for us. We hope Ajman can have a great season with him leading our attack next season.”

Ajman are yet to win a league title, but Nasr said the signing of Algerian playmaker Kerkar and another forward in Olivier is proof that the club is serious to at least challenge for top of the table finish next season.

“Kerkar was playing for Emirates Club and he now has the experience of playing in the AFC Champions League because Emirates Club were one of the UAE teams in the competition, so he will also have an important role to play for us next season,” Nasr said.

“Karim has a lot of experience in the UAE as well as he has spent time with a number of clubs here. As far as Olivier is concerned, he has been a fine attacking player for Al Ahli in Doha and we believe these signings are what the club needed to prepare for the next season.”

Ajman are in the process of signing four Emiratis and are on the hunt to fill up a final overseas spot, which will have to be from Asia.

“Sheikh Ammar Al Nuaimi, the Crown Prince of Ajman, has made these acquisitions possible because of the interest he takes in the club and we would like to thank him and our chairman for their assistance in getting these good players,” Nasr added.
