Kaita, who plies his trade with FC Metalist Kharkiv in Ukraine, has not featured in any of the national team’s engagement since the Eagles dismal outing at the Mundial but coach Austin Eguavoen, the Eagles’ interim Chief Coach listed him among the players he would parade against Iran that is seeking global recognition in football.
Kaita, who admitted that the referee was right to issue him a red card against Greek player, is however among the six midfielders listed for the Tehran game. Fegor Ogude from Valerenga FC, Norway ; Kalu Uche, Eneji Otakpa, John Owoeri and Saka Ayo are the other midfielders on the list.
Remarkably, the Eagles’ current first choice goal tender, Vincent Enyeama was conspicuously missing on the list which the Nigeria Football Federation deputy general secretary (Technical), Emmanuel Ikpeme approved for the November 17 tie.
Israel-based Dele Aiyenugba was the only experienced goalie on the list that also has Bassey Akpan of Heartland FC among the seven home-based players selected for the encounter.
