Yerevan - Armenia's national football team has took on 23-year-old Yura Movsisyan in what is likely to become a significant addition to its offensive line. Movsisyan will join the team in time for a friendly game against Iran's national team on August 11.

Movsisyan is currently playing for Randers, in Denmark's top league, where he scored 8 goals since joining the team in early 2009.

He previously left a mark in the American Major League Soccer (MLS) with Kansas City Wizards and Real Salt Lake, scoring 5 and 15 goals for the respective teams during incomplete four seasons.

Born in Baku in 1987 Movsisyan and his family were forced to relocate amid anti-Armenian violence there and eventually settled in Los Angeles area.

He played for Pasadena High school and Pasadena City College before he was drafted into MLS in 2006.

International football federation (FIFA) currently ranks Armenia 96th out of 202 national teams worldwide.

Armenia's last friendly game was in May against Uzbekistan (ranked 87th) with Armenia coming out on top 3-1. The next opponent, Iran, is ranked 64th in the world.

The friendly games come ahead of European Cup qualifiers that begin in September, in which Armenia will be competing in a group with Russia, Slovakia, Ireland, Macedonia and Andorra, with top teams advancing to the cup.
