The duo guided Sepahan to the final of the 2007 edition but will go to head-to-head with a place in the last eight awaiting the winners of the all-Iranian encounter.
“We have worked with each other before at Sepahan, so that means we know each other’s ideas very well and won’t be caught off guard by one another,” said Bonacic.
“I am glad that three Iranian teams have reached this round of the tournament. We attempted to survive in the league and we did, so we can solely focus on the Champions League now.
“Three years ago, I reached the final with Sepahan. Back then, the circumstances were really tough for the only representative of Iran as all the pressure was on us and we were centre of attention.
“But this year there are three Iranian teams in this stage and we are sure that at least one Iranian team will progress to the quarter finals, which is good.
“I am certain Asian football will hear lots of good news from Iranian teams. I am a strong believer that Iran, Japan and South Korea have the strongest leagues and clubs in Asia.”
Mes' Group D campaign was overshadowed by the spectre of relegation from the Iran Pro League and they only made it through to the last 16 thanks to an stoppage-time Al Ahli equaliser in their 2-2 draw with Al Sadd after the Iranians had beaten Al Hilal.
Having secured their top-flight status, Bonacic is hopeful his luck holds for Wednesday's game although he is keen to settle the contest in normal time.
“I do believe in being lucky in football. We ourselves were fortunate to qualify to this stage, I hope we can have the luck for the rest of the tournament as well,” he added.
“I don’t really want the game to be extended to a penalty shootout. I hope one of the teams wins before we have to resort to penalty kicks. Tomorrow’s game is unpredictable and that’s where the beauty of football lies.”
Ebrahimzadeh, meanwhile, is without Mohammad Salsali and Farshad Talebi as he searches for a first win over Mes this season.
“Tomorrow’s game will be both difficult and exciting for us. As the players have been trying really hard and the spectators have been supporting us so far, I hope we can qualify to the next round,” he said.
“Fortunately we will be only missing Salsali and Talebi due to injury and suspension but the rest of players are all ready for the game.
“In the league games, we were defeated by Mes in the first half of the league, then drew in the second half and now we want to win this match. Mes are currently in good spirits as they have been moving steadily upwards and they’re now relieved that they won’t be relegated.
“I have drilled into my players’ mind that they should put more effort into the game together with a faster tempo. If they do so, no teams in Asian can stop Zob Ahan from progressing.”
