Last year's Iran Pro League runners-up are making just their second appearance in the continental competition, but are on a high after beating current league leaders and city rivals Sepahan last week to cut the gap to just six points at the top of the table.
And while Zob Ahan may lack AFC Champions League experience compared to Al Wahda, who are making their fifth appearance, Ebrahimzadeh was assistant coach as Sepahan reached the 2007 final.
“Certainly when a team is placed second in their domestic league, it will not be easy for any opponent,” said former Iran caretaker coach Ebrahimzadeh.
“We will do our best to play well and show our opponents that Iranian football has talent at this level.
“We know them quite well and also know they have been representing their country in this competition for several years. However, that does not scare us because we rely on the international experience of our players and I believe in the abilities of my players.”
Ebrahimzadeh is sweating on the fitness of Brazilian striker Igor Castro to add much-needed power to Zob Ahan's recently criticised strike force.
Al Wahda needed to beat Syria's Al Karamah and India's Churchill Brothers in the play-offs to qualify for the competition for a fifth time after only managing a fourth place finish in the United Arab Emirates League last season.
The three-time UAE League champions secured their best performance in 2007 when they beat Saudi Arabia's Al Hilal before losing to Ebrahimzadeh's Sepahan.
“We know that Zob Ahan have been playing quite well in their recent matches in the Iran Pro League, but I’m sure they are going to experience a difficult match day against us,” said former Austria coach Josef Hickersberger.
“I do believe Zob Ahan is currently the best Iranian team and fortunately I know each of their players’ technical traits and that will surely help me a great deal in coaching my team.”
Former Bahrain coach Hickersberger, who has also coached at club level in Bahrain and Qatar as well as at Al Wasl and Al Shaab in the UAE, will look towards Brazilian striker Fernando Baiano, who topped the UAE scoring charts last season, to provide the attacking threat backed by UAE attacking midfielder Ismail Matar.
