Speaking at the team’s training camp in Dubai, he stated, “Sepahan of Isfahan and Steel Azin offered me to take charge of their teams. I didn’t want to come back to football at that time,”
Daei was sacked from Iran national team in March following disappointing results in the 2010 World Cup qualifiers.
“In my opinion taking charge of a well-prepared team is not a big job. I’ve come here to assist in Persepolis’ come back into contention. You have to help a team in times of crisis,” he added.
“We are aiming at winning Iran’s Hazfi Cup and advancing to next year’s Asian Champions League. I think Persepolis has potential to do that. Our players must know that whoever is better will be in the starting list,” Daei concluded.
Persepolis is scheduled to play Emirate’s first division team Hattat on Thursday.
