AFC - Group E leaders Iran are set to be without influential trio Javad Nekounam, Masoud Shojaei and Andranik Teymourian for Sunday's 2011 AFC Asian Cup qualifier against Jordan.

Nekounam headed home Teymourian's cross with 18 minutes remaining as unbeaten Iran claimed a second win of the campaign with a 1-0 win over Jordan last weekend.

But Teymourian has returned to English Premier League side Fulham, while Iran have asked Spanish side Osasuna to allow Nekounam (pictured) and Shojaei, who also played in Tehran, to play on Sunday as Afshin Ghotbi's side look to move four points clear of second-placed Singapore.

Farhad Majidi is also an injury doubt meaning Ghotbi looks set to rely on a domestic based squad and UAE-based trio Iman Mobali, Javad Kazemian and Mehrzad Madanchi.

"Winning against Jordan last Saturday was important for us and it was crucial in our attempt to qualify for the Asian Cup and we hope that we can continue winning,” said Ghotbi.

"The players must not underestimate Jordan because we must get another win and increase the gap at the top of the group. We want to qualify for Doha 2011 early.

"Jordan could be dangerous as they will be playing at home and in front of their fans. Our mission is not going to be easy, and if we don't win, the group will be open."

Jordan have picked up just one point from their three games and need a win at King Abdullah International Stadium to keep their realistic hopes of qualifying alive by moving within a point of third-placed Thailand with two games remaining.

Jordan coach Adnan Hamad will be without striker Mahmoud Shelbaieh who was sent-off in the defeat in Tehran, while fellow forward Abdalla Deeb is a doubt.

"We have lost the previous match and that means that we have only one option in this game, we must go on the attack and get a win which will get us back to contention,” said the Iraqi coach.

"We have tried to focus in the training sessions that we had recently on the attacking performance. I hope that the players will follow the instructions and score from the chances that they will have.

"That said, we will also not forget the defensive duty as Iran are a strong team and we know that they will not defend and they will go forward to also score goals. We must fix the mistakes that we had in the first match."
