The first match will be held in Tehran on October 10 and the second in Los Angeles on November 14, Mehr news agency quoted IFF President Ali Kafashian as saying after a meeting with US soccer federation head Sunil Gulati on the sidelines of a FIFA meeting in Nassau.
Kafashian added, however, that the fixtures depend on the two teams' results in the 2010 World Cup qualifiers.
Iran agreed in May to hold two friendly matches with America upon the US soccer federation's request. The two teams last met in 1998 World Cup in which Iran beat the US 2-1 to seal its only World Cup win in history.
"I hope both Iran and the US qualify for the World Cup so that these two matches help them in their preparation," Kafashian said.
The US moved one step closer to South Africa on Sunday after beating Honduras 2-0 in its fifth World Cup qualifier. The United States now stands in the second place of the CONCACAF qualifying group - 2 points adrift table leader Costa Rica. The top three teams will advance to the World Cup.
Iran's World Cup berth, however, was put in jeopardy after Afshin Qotbi's squad drew 0-0 with North Korea on Saturday to stand in Group B fourth place, behind South Korea, North Korea and Saudi Arabia.
Iran will have to beat the UAE and South Korea in its two remaining matches to secure at least the third place in Group B of World Qualifiers and sweep into the play-off round.
