“Iran will have two friendlies before it faces Saudi Arabia on March 28,” said the IFF deputy head, Mehdi Taj, on Thursday.
According to Taj, the decision was made in a meeting with Iran's manager Ali Daei at the country's football federation meeting on Wednesday.
“The match against Kuwait has been confirmed, but we are trying our best to have another friendly before the match with Kuwait,” he added
The Iranian sports official said Iran will qualify for the 2010 World Cup with thoughtful planning.
Taj also pointed out that he has developed a positive view of the Iranian team during the past few matches.
Ali Daei's side has played a number of friendly games to display a better performance in the World Cup qualifiers.
Iran competes against Saudi Arabia, North Korea, the UAE and South Korea in Group B of the event.
South Korea currently tops the group, with eight points, while North Korea places second with seven points. Iran is in the third spot with six points, two points clear of Saudi Arabia. The UAE is at the bottom with just one point.
