Sepahan tops, Persepolis flops

PTV - Two goals in the last quarter of the match hand Isfahan's Zob-e-Ahan a sweet 2-0 victory over second-place Persepolis at Fooladshahr stadium.

Saturday afternoon defeat comes as a blow to Afshin Qotbi's side, who needed a win to secure their place at the top.

Mohammad-Reza Khalatbari scored the opener for Zob-e-Ahan in the 78th minute. Two minutes later, Mostafa Salehinejad netted the home side's second goal of the match.

Also in the 25th week of the Iranian Premier League (IPL), Tehran's Esteqlal conceded its 8th defeat of the season after losing 0-1 to Sepahan at Azadi Stadium in Tehran.

Sepahan now leads the table with 43 points two points adrift of Persepolis while Saba Battery chases the two with 39 points.
