FIFA extends Iran's suspension until December 12

IRNA - World football body FIFA has extended on Wednesday Iran's suspension until December 12, reiterating that the Iranian Football Federation has to meet all the conditions set by FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).

"Iran has until December 12 to accept the specified conditions, and failure to do so will result in the suspension staying in force," said a FIFA statement following a meeting of the FIFA Executive Committee.

FIFA partially lifted Iran's suspension to allow Iran's Under-23 national team to compete in the Asian Games in Doha, Qatar, however the overall suspension is still in effect, FIFA spokesman Andreas Herren told IRNA earlier.

The FIFA official added there are ongoing 'contacts on the highest levels' between Iranian sports officials and the FIFA and AFC presidents.
