Tasnim – Iran legend midfielder Ali Karimi has been nominated as best-ever AFC Asian Cup midfielder.

With less than a hundred days away from January's AFC Asian Cup 2019, and the-AFC.com continues its series of articles to determine the all-time best AFC Asian Cup side.

There are 10 candidates for the spots at the middle of the park.

Iran has not reached the AFC Asian Cup final since 1976, yet the last time Team Melli earned a place in the semi-final, Ali Karimi was its talisman.

Karimi bagged five goals in the 2004 AFC Asian Cup, leading Iran to third place in the competition. His goals included an unforgettable hat-trick against Korea Republic in the quarter-final.

The midfielder was named Asian Player of Year and was included in team of the tournament in the same year, earning a move to German giants Bayern Munich.

Ali was not symbol footballer of Asia but a gentle with soft heart and warm person....he always looked down or head slightly lower than who ever talked or interviewed him, very humble with politeness and great manner. I wished if he had raised...

I wished if he had raised his head in one occasion against S. Korea  in 2000 at Lebanon when Maradona styled dribbled half of S.K. players but with left foot slightly missed goal, then S.K.  with mistake by legend Ali Dai scored golden goal ....it would  have been one of the best ever Asian cup for both Allis and Asia. I wish them happy life and never forget football joy and entertainment he and Dai gave us.

He is the best top 10 Midfield attacker in the world without the doubt! Iran never going to have someone like him with such superior technical ability in Football.He didn't belong in Asia or Iran. He should have been BORN in Europe. Without the doubt he would have been as popular as Pele and Mardona.
