Xavi Esteghlal

Tasnim – Al Sadd iconic midfielder Xavi Hernandez is looking to write a new piece of history in the match against Iran’s Esteghlal in the 2018 AFC Champions League quarter-final, the-afc.com reported.

Xavi will now lead his team out against Esteghlal at Azadi Stadium on August 27 as the former Barcelona captain looks to write a new piece of history.

Having earlier stated his intention to retire, the decorated midfielder had a change of heart and signed a two-year extension to his deal in Doha.

The return leg will be held in Doha’s Jassim bin Hamad Stadium on September 17.
