Financial Tribune - Tickets for Team Melli matches in the group stage of FIFA 2018 Russia World Club are now available on the website of the Football Federation of Iran Ffiri.ir
According to a statement posted on the federation website, the federation is the sole organization eligible to sell tickets for the 2018 Russia World Cup following an agreement between FIFA and Football Federation of Iran.
“Those interested can enroll via the portal on the website for buying tickets from Saturday. The closure time of the portal is January 18,” the statement said.
Iran national football team qualified for the 2018 World Cup as the third team after the host country Russia and Brazil. It will be the fifth appearance in the world event. Iran’s squad has so far competed in 1978 Argentina, 1998 France, 2006 Germany and 2014 Brazil world cups.
For the next year’s tournament in Russia (June 14-July 15), Team Melli is drawn in the toughest group (among all eight groups) with Portugal, Spain and Morocco in Group B.
In its first match, Iran will play Morocco in Saint Petersburg on June 15. According to the latest update of FIFA World Ranking, released on December 21, the North African team is ranked 40th while Iran sits at 32nd spot.
The Iranians will meet Spain (world No. 6) on June 20 in Kazan and their final match will be against Portugal (third in the world) in Saransk on June 25.
