FOXSportsAsia - The Iran football team have continued their impressive climb up the FIFA rankings while Thailand and Singapore have fallen dramatically.
The Asian nation has climbed ten places to 27th in the latest FIFA rankings that were released on Thursday.
Team Melli are unbeaten since June 2015, winning in 13 out of their last 17 international outings.
Australia follow in 40th position after moving up five places, while South Korea have moved three positions to 44th in the rankings.
In terms of the AFF members, Philippines remain the top nation, ranked 124th. The Azkals have endured a tumultuous year, with wins over North Korea and Kyrgyzstan being somewhat overshadowed by a 3-1 loss at home to Bahrain earlier this month.
Vietnam have moved up five places to 136 and are just 40 rankings points behind the Philippines.
This is mainly thanks to the Golden Stars great run of form, where they have won four out of their last five fixtures. This run included an impressive 5-2 win at home over North Korea.
Meanwhile, Thailand is in the midst of a disastrous patch of form, having lost their last five internationals on the trot. As a result, the War Elephants have slipped ten places on the FIFA rankings down to 146th.
Myanmar (156th), Malaysia (164th) and Cambodia (167th) follow, all of whom have had checkered records in 2016.
Finally, with just one win out of their last seven fixtures, Singapore have dropped to 171st, their lowest FIFA ranking in their footballing history.
