Asian champion Iran, among 12 teams to compete in world futsal

IRNA - The Asian four-time futsal champion Iran will compete among 12 countries in the Kuala Lumpur World Fives championship, which is scheduled to be held from June 3 to 6.
Others are Spain, Brazil, Italy, Holland, Egypt, Costa Rica, Australia, Russia, Thailand, Japan and host Malaysia.
"Newly-appointed Malaysia's futsal coach Silvio Sergio Machada from Brazil will have his hands full preparing the national team for three major tournaments this year," the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) said in a statement on Thursday.
It said the first assignment will be the toughest when they play host to the Kuala Lumpur World Fives, scheduled for June 3-6 at the Putra Stadium in Bukit Jalil, about 40 km from here.
The next tournament is the second Asean Football Federation (AFF)'s tournament in Cambodia in July followed by the fifth Asian Football Confederation (AFC)'s tournament in Japan from July 28-Aug 4.
