TEHRANTIMES - Mustafa Denizli has said that he will not return to Tehran to continue his coaching job with Persepolis football team.

The 62-year-old Turk, who has been residing in Turkey since last month due to some personal problems, telephoned Persepolis general manager Mohammad Ruyanian and announced his resignation.

Denizli apologized to Persepolis fans for his decision.

The Turk took charge of the Iranian giant in December on an 18-month contract.

Manuel Jose of Portugal, Gabriel Calderon from Argentina, and Frenchman Bruno Metsu are candidates to replace Denizli, according to Ruyanian.

“We didn’t reach an agreement with Denizli. We have three options, and one of them will be appointed as Persepolis coach by Sunday,” he said.
