Soccerway - Iran coach Carlos Queiroz believes Portugal are one of the best attacking outfits at Euro 2012.

Portugal suffered a 1-0 defeat to Germany in their first match at the tournament, a result which leaves them at the foot of Group B, together with Netherlands.

Queiroz, who coached Portugal for a second time between 2008 and 2010, conceded that the 2004 runners-up are short of options in midfield, but praised their attacking potential.

"Without a doubt, Portugal do not have midfielders with the same quality of those who were part of the 'Golden Generation', but they still are one of the best attacking teams in Europe," he told Iranian TV station TV3.

"Just give the ball to Ronaldo and Nani and watch their magic.

"However, Portugal have the same chronic problems in defence, and having pressure on the defenders can be troublesome for them."

The 59-year-old, who also managed Real Madrid in 2003/04, admitted his difficulty in coaching a team composed of big-name players and revealed he had a hard time dealing with Brazil legend Ronaldo.

"Coaches usually say three things to the players: yes, maybe and no," he explained. "But players want to work with coaches who know just two words: yes and maybe.

"But gradually they will find out that when someone wants them to improve, he sometimes will go against what they want.

"Ronaldo? Which one? The Brazilian one is responsible for my hair loss when I was in charge in Real Madrid.

"Cristiano Ronaldo and his pride? This is one of his characteristics. You either love him or hate him. But all coaches would prefer to have him on their side."
