PFDC - ISTANBUL, The friendly match between Iran and Iraq, originally set for May 27 in Istanbul, was canceled.

Iranian 'Mehr News Agency' reports about the game being called off according to Iraq's coach Zico, however, cites no given reasons for the cancellation.

The game would have been the dress rehearsal for the Iranian team, who will have a training camp in Turkey from May 21 before directly travelling to Uzbekistan for the first round 4 World Cup qualifier on June 3.

According to 'Mehr', the Iranian football federation (IFF) is now in intensive search for another friendly match opposition to face Iran at the end of May, preferably in Istanbul.

The IFF regularily has to deal with short-term cancellations of football friendlies, often due to political reasons. However, due to the often missing written contracts confirming the verbally agreed games, Iran is mostly not compensated for the cancellations.
