PFDC  - TEHRAN, Iran will host Mozambique's national team in Tehran's Azadi stadium on May 2, Iranian news agency 'ISNA' reports on Wednesday.

Iran boss Carlos Queiroz set up the game, which must be very special to the Portugese - Queiroz was born in Nampula, Mozambique and played football for 'Ferrovario de Nampula' there.

The 'Os Mambas' are currently in 106th position of the FIFA ranking and are helmed by German coach Gert Engels.

A possible friendly match against Iraq on May 1 was turned down in favour of the Mozambique game.

Iran's national team will also meet the UAE in a friendly game in Dubai on April 17.

Meanwhile, the Iranian football federation (IFF) is in negotiations with Kuwait for another friendly match in April or May.

Team Melli is gearing up for the World Cup qualifiers against Uzbekistan and Qatar in June.
