TEHRANTIMES - Esteghlal midfielder Mojtaba Jabbari has undergone surgery on his knee which he damaged earlier this season.

Iconic Esteghlal midfielder Mojtaba Jabbari will be out of action for several weeks, the Iranian football club confirmed on Monday.

Jabbari, who often suffers with knee injuries, had meniscus problem.

“We were reluctant to let him go under knife but the club’s doctors said it’s urgent,” Esteghlal sporting director Mansour Pourheidari said.

Jabbari played the full 90 minutes against Al-Ettifaq of Saudi Arabia in the 2012 Asian Champions League play-off match on February 18, where the Iranian representative defeated his rival 3-1.
