Persepolis and Esteghlal will have to play in Iran’s Hazfi Cup quarterfinals, IPL chief Aziz Mohammadi said.
“Tehran derby will be played in Azadi Stadium on December 9. The referees’ committee will announce the name of the referee soon,” he said.
In the last 16 stage, Persepolis defeated Zob Ahan 3-2 and Esteghlal edged minnow Saipa Mehr 1-0.
Esteghlal is now on top of the IPL table with 30 points after 14 weeks, and Persepolis is 6th with 20 points.
Esteghlal and Persepolis have played against each other 72 times, with Esteghlal winning 24 games, Persepolis taking 17 victories, and 31 matches ending in a draw.
