ISFAHAN - Persepolis football team qualified for Iran’s Hazfi Cup quarterfinals after defeating Zob Ahan of Isfahan on Sunday.

Persepolis beat Zob Ahan 3-2 in Isfahan’s Fooladshahr Stadium and will play winner of Esteghlal and Saipa Mehr match in the quarterfinals.

Farshid Talebi opened the scoring for Zob Ahan in the 7th minute after Persepolis keeper Alireza Haghighi made a blunder and failed to save the ball.

Maziar Zare scored for Persepolis in the 17th minute from the penalty spot. Mohammad Hosseini put ahead Zob Ahan once again in the 56th minute with a header but just after five minutes Amir-Hossein Feshangchi equalized the match.

Maziar Zare finished off the match with a long-range shot in the 78th minute.

“It was a difficult match for us and I am so happy to defeat our strong rival. I am satisfied with the effort of my players. From now on, we have to concentrate on quarterfinals match,” Hamid Estili said.
