Azizi replace Kazem Ghiasian in the Mashhad-based team. Abu Moslem is 7th after eight weeks in the Iran first division football league.
In December 2006, Azizi was appointed as Abu Moslem coach but was replaced by Parviz Mazloumi in October 2007 following poor results.
Azizi, who played 47 times for Iran football team and scored 11 goals, retired from the international football in 2006.
The 40-year-old has also worked in Esteghlal Ahvaz football team as coach.
