Iran’s Persepolis defeated Nacional 1-0 at Tehran’s Azadi Stadium. Persepolis Amir-Hossein Feshangchi was brought down by Mark Miers in the penalty area in the 84th minute and Hadi Noroozi converted the penalty into the goal. Mieres was sent off by the referee.
“Honestly, Persepolis played better and deserved to win. But we have been feeling tired since we’ve had a long travel,” Nacional coach Juan Manuel Battaglia said in the post-match news conference.
Nacional is scheduled to play another Iranian giant Esteghlal on Saturday.
