PTV - The Iranian female football team has edged past Jordan in the 4th West Asian Women's Football Championship in the United Arab Emirates to reach the final.
Maryam Rahimi's hat trick helped Iran defeat Jordan 3-2 at Sultan bin Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Monday and book a place in the final of the 4th West Asia Football Federation (WAFF) women's championship, IRNA reported.
Shahnaz Jebreen opened the scoring for Jordan in the third minute of the match, but the first half ended with no more goals by either team.
Rahimi leveled the match in the 56th minute, doubled her tally in the 72nd minute, and widened the gap for Iran about ten minutes from the final whistle.
Ayah al-Majali pulled one back for Jordan, but the team could not get back on the scoreboard.
In the other semifinal match, the UAE blanked Bahrain 4-0.
Iran is scheduled to take on the host on Wednesday in the final, while Jordan will face Bahrain in the third-place playoff.
Iran beat Syria, Lebanon, and the UAE in its earlier matches.
The UAE is hosting the 4th West Asian Women's Football Championship, which opened on October 3 and runs until October 12.
