The Tehran-based football team, which appointed Mohammad Ruyanian as its new general manager last week, defeated Sepasi 2-1 at the Hafezieh Stadium.
Vahid Hashemian, who came off the bench in the second half, gave Persepolis a lead in the 69th minute with a header.
But Sepasi gained control of the game shortly afterwards. Ayoub Kalantari equalized the match with a long range shoot in the 78th minute.
Persepolis Captain Ali Karimi scored the winning goal from the close range in the 90th minute.
Persepolis needed the win against Sepasi as the popular team had lost to its archrival Esteghlal in Tehran derby last week.
Persepolis leapfrogged into ninth place in the IPL standings table.
