MNA - Iran Football Federation (IFF) on Friday rejected Tunisia’s bid for a friendly match.

“The Tunisian football federation invited us to play a friendly on August 21 but since the Iran Professional League has started and the players are not allowed to leave their own clubs to play Tunisia, we refused that,” Abbas Torabian, director of the International Relations Committee of Iran Football Federation said.

It’s for the second time the friendly match between two teams has been cancelled. Iran and Tunisia friendly in January 2008 was cancelled.

Iran had already rejected Jordan’s offer for a friendly.

The Asian heavyweight has been drawn in Group E of the 2014 World Cup qualifiers along with Bahrain, Qatar and Indonesia.
