The Portugese had named 19 players for his second short training camp in Tehran (May 31 to June 2) but had vowed to add more players from the losing side of the Cup quartfinal.
Interesting is the invitation of playmaker Moharram Navidkia. The 28-year-old playmaker had struggled with injuries for a long time and finally was recalled to the national team by Afshin Ghotbi last year. However, he declined the invitation and announced the end of his national team career, wanting to concentrate on his club instead.
Iran will have a further training camp from June 27 until July 9. On July 17 a friendly match is scheduled against Madagascar in Tehran as preperation for the two-legged World Cup qualification round 2 playoff against the Maledives on July 23 (Tehran) and July 28 (Male).
