MNA - Sepahan of Isfahan is celebrating its third Iran Professional League championship, despite losing to Saipa.

Sepahan, which won the title last week after a goalless draw with Persepolis, lifted the cup in Karaj on Friday for the second time in a row and the third time in the past ten years.
Iranian football giants Persepolis and Esteghlal have each won the IPL title two times.

On the last day of the IPL season, titleholders Sepahan lost 2-1 to Saipa. Persepolis took some sweet revenge, beating Paykan 5-1. The Reds were defeated 3-1 by Paykan in the first half of the season. The loss sends Paykan down to Iran’s first division.

Second-place Esteghlal beat Pas in an away game. Pas could have stayed in the league with just a draw, but the Hamedan team was unable to deliver and will be relegated.

Rah Ahan fought back from a two-goal deficit and snatched a point against Mes of Kerman in a home game. The result helped them stay in the league and avoid relegation.
