Osasuna were the better side in first half and deservingly took the lead thanks to a great goal by Sola.
The hosts continued to dominate, but were punished for their offensive approach when Diego Costa perfectly finished a counter attack.
Osasuna, with a today not fully convincing Javad Nekounam in their starting lineup, remained vulnerable to throughballs to Costa, and the visitors took full advantage of that early in second half twice, with Costa completing a hattrick to bring Atletico 3-1 in front.

Osasuna coach Mendilibar finally reacted and brought Masoud Shojaei for the disappointing Soriano, and the substitution immediately payed off.
Shojaei took on three Atletico defenders, getting past two before being fouled by the third. Nekounam's following freekick was handled in the box and the Iranian national team captain perfectly executed the spotkick himself to recude the gap to one goal.
