Persepolis back in race after 5-0 win

MNA - Tehran-based Persepolis thrashed struggling Shirin Faraz of Kermanshah 5-0 in the 30th week of the Iran’s Professional League(IPL) here at the Azadi Stadium on Wednesday.
Thus, the reds closed the gap on Isfahan’s Sepahan to four points following the leaders’ loss to Saipa.

Meantime, Mohsen Khalili gave the giants the lead in the 20th minute of the match.

Mohammad Nosrati’s header doubled the score in the 27th minute. Khalili netted for the second time one minute into the second half to boost Persepolis’ title hopes. He is the IPL’s top scorer this season with 14 goals.

Croatian Mate scored the fourth goal in the 59th minute and primed a goal for Farhad Kheirkhah in the 70th minute.

Persepolis came back to the second place with 49 points and rock-bottom Shirin Faraz is 18th with 21 points.
