Iranians fire four past Tajiks

AFC – Iran’s youth team, who will take part in the AFC U-19 Championship later this year, hammered Tajikistan side Vakhsh 4-0 to qualify for the third-place play-off in the 2008 Turkmenistan President’s Cup.

Seyed Iman Moosavi opened the scoring in the 35th minute before Jalaldin Ali Mohammadi, who plays for AFC Champions League 2008 qualifiers Sepahan, doubled Iran’s advantage on the stroke of half-time.

Moosavi hit his second and Iran’s third four minutes after the interval with Mehrdad Noory completing the win a minute from full-time.

The Iranians will player the losing side in Wednesday’s semi-final match between Turkmenistan Cup holders MTTU and Armenian outfit Mika, while the winners of that match will contest the final with Turkmenistan league champions Ashgabat on Friday.
