Qatar Hold Iran To A Draw

GOAL - Qatar battled to a goalless draw with Iran in an international friendly at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium on Thursday.

Qatar used the friendly encounter with Iran as preparation for their upcoming 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.

The hosts had a several opportunities to score. But, their strikers fail to capitalise on their chances. 2006 AFC Player of the Year Khalfan Ibrahim Khalfan resumed international duties for Qatar, after being sidelined by injury for six months.

Brazilian-born players Marconi Ameral Costa and Fabio Cesar, who recently received Qatar citizenship, made their debuts against the Iranians.

Qatar will play their second friendly against Syria in Damascus on January 13 while Iran will be playing against Mali on the same evening.
