AFC - Former Iranian international midfielder Karim Bagheri is reported to have signed with an English league club for the upcoming season and will be leaving for the UK after a short holiday in Tehran. Bagheri, who announced his retirement from international football earlier this year, played for Qatar League side Al Sadd this past season after a disappointing spell at English Premier League side Charlton Athletic in the 2000-01 season. However, the 28-year-old is keen to try his luck again in Europe and is looking forward to joining the yet-undisclosed English side. "I am now waiting to go to England and begin training," said Bagheri to IranMania. "I am at the moment practicing at Pas Club under the supervision of two bodybuilding coaches. This time my going to the UK is different to the last time. I am well informed and in high spirits," added the Iranian player who also had a spell in the German Bundesliga with Armenia Bielefeld from 1997 to 1999.
