Azizi appointed Abu Moslem manager

MNA – Former national footballer Khodadad Azizi was Saturday installed as the Iranian team Abu Moslem.

Nasser Shafaq, the club managing director, said, “Khodadad was a committed Abu Moslem player and we chose him for his commitment.”

Azizi is popular mainly for scoring the equalizer against Australia in the 1998 World Cup qualifier in Melbourne.

The nimble player stunned the Aussies, making it 2-2 in their second-leg qualifier, helping Iran advance to the World Cup finals after 20 years.

The two sides had tied 1-1 in the first leg in Tehran.
