IRNA - Former Football Federation chief Mohammad Dadkan and his board resigned this Sunday.

Kiomars Hashemi has been appointed to the post.

The resignation came to avoid any interference in the affairs of federations which are non-governmental organizations (NGOs).

The Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) had in September declared that it still recognizes Dadkan as the Iranian football chief.

However, FIFA designated November 25 as the final deadline for Iran to clarify Dadkan's case.

Dadkan and his board left Iran's national football team after the weak performance in the World Cup 2006.
