Goncalves: Angola may gamble against Iran

FIFAWORLDCUP - Angola coach Luis Oliveira Goncalves said on Tuesday his side might favour a riskier strategy in their quest for goals against Iran on Wednesday.
The Africans did not find the net in their first two matches and must end their goal drought against already-eliminated Iran if they are to have any chance of progressing from Group D.

They must also hope former colonial masters Portugal help them out by beating Mexico.

"We will play to win and perhaps we will take a few more risks," Goncalves said at a news conference after a training session at the Zentralstadion in Leipzig.

"Angola want to score and we don't want to go home without a goal," he added.

Goncalves has started the first two games with a solid 4-5-1 formation, with captain Akwa as a lone striker, but it appears that he may opt to beef up the attack with Benfica frontman Mantorras.

However, Iran coach Branko Ivankovic said on Tuesday his side was determined to win their last match, having lost to Mexico and Portugal.

"A win against Angola would mean our World Cup had been a success," the Croat told reporters. "This is the biggest and most beautiful event in sports history and we should be proud to have been a part of it."
