Paykan promotes to Iran Pro League, IPL kicks off on August 8

MNA – TEHRAN, National automaker Iran Khodro’s football side Paykan celebrated its promotion to the sixth Iran Pro League (IPL) with an aggregate 3-2 win over Pegah in the northern capital Rasht Friday.

The capital’s team, which had overcome Gilan Province’s Pegah 2-1 in the first-leg playoff, fought to a 1-1 draw in front of over 25,000 fans in Shahid Azodi Stadium.

Mohammad Ettehad took the lead for the visitor on 36 minutes and Rassul Mirtoroqi canceled out his opener 15 minutes from normal time.

Mohsen Torki refereed the deciding match.

Meanwhile the Iran Pro League Organization here Thursday announced that the sixth edition of the football league will start on August 17.

The day marks the birth anniversary of Imam Ali (AS).

According to the organization, the transfer window is open until July 29.
