Ghalenoiee to stay on as Esteghlal coach

AFC - Iran Pro League champions Esteghlal have extended the contract of their coach Amir Ghalenoiee. The former Esteghlal captain will now lead the team till 2009.

Ghalenoiee had resigned after his team won the league crown due to

mismanagement in the club administration but agreed to sign a new

contract after meeting the board of directors on Sunday.

Esteghlal are the only Iranian team to have won the Asian Club

Championship twice, first in 1970 as Taj Club and later in 1990 as Eteghlal. They will represent the country in the next AFC Champions League.
