Frank Pagelsdorf set to become club coach in Iran

DPA - Former German Bundesliga coach Frank Pagelsdorf is set to become trainer at local club Esteghlal Teheran, the Iran sports paper reported on Wednesday.

It is hoped Pagelsdorf will lift the club to the championship after Esteghlal had to settle for third place last season. The report said that the club has already reserved a hotel room for Pagelsdorf.

Pagelsdorf coached SV Hamburg 1997-2002 and has been out of the job for a year since leaving then second division Osnabrueck.

Esteghlal had a German coach before, but Roland Koch was sacked after just seven months in 2003.
