AFC - IRAN international striker Vahid Hashemian said on the club’s official website that he is for the moment, just happy to be playing a fringe role at VFL Bochum.

"I actually don't require such a leading role," said Hashemian. "Each player has a certain task to fulfill. (Goalkeeper) Rein van Duijnhoven has to prevent goals, I have to score them.

"That's what I am responsible for and that's what I am achieving rather well at the moment. I am just serving my team."

The outspoken Hashemian has already declared his wish to stay in Europe while his nation battle out a place at next year’s Asian Cup Finals in China. The Iranian currently has six goals to his name in the Bundesliga and is confident of getting more as more than half of the season has yet to be played out.

"I have been just a substitute for the first four matches this season but now I have earned the coach's (Peter Neururer) trust and am allowed to play the full 90 minutes for most of the time. Therefore, I get more scoring opportunities and can score more goals."
