Godwin Mensha Esteghlal

PLDC – Former Persepolis striker Godwin Mensha says he was forced to leave the Reds.

The Nigerian forward joined Persepolis arch rival Esteghlal on a one-and-a-half year contract on Tuesday and represented his new team in the match against Paykan on Thursday.

“I am happy to join Esteghlal and we earned a good 4-0 victory over Paykan. I hope I can be a useful player for my new team,” Mensha said.

“I was forced to leave Persepolis because Branko Ivankovic (Persepolis coach) didn’t want me. I hope I can help Esteghlal,” he added.

“I respect all Persepolis’ fans because they always supported me. I hope I can improve in Esteghlal game by game,” Mensha concluded.
